Meet the board.

About

I am currently working as a lawyer for the Government of Alberta, where I advise tribunal adjudicators on the application of the Worker's Compensation Act and represent my organization at all levels of the Alberta courts. Prior to this, I worked as a policy officer for the Scottish Government in Edinburgh developing policy and legislation related to climate change. When I’m not working, I am hiking with my wife, daughter, and my dog, Onyx, or planning our next trip abroad. I am very excited to work with CYAN and fellow board members as we grow into a true Canmore institution.

I am a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) working in Banff. I relocated to the Bow Valley in December 2020, and enjoy spending my free time climbing up or skiing down mountains, playing boardgames, catching a live show, producing music, or grabbing a beer at the pub.I have worked in accounting and finance for 6+ years, including at the City of Calgary and KPMG. I also have previous experience as Treasurer for a Board of Directors in Calgary (The International Festival of Animated Objects). Then, one day, the mountains called and I answered!

About

After the pandemic led to a virtual office environment, I found my way out to Canmore in search of somewhere to be closer with the outdoors and the community. In my first weeks in Canmore, CYAN events were a great support for getting to know a little about the community and the people in it and I am excited to be paying that forward as the CYAN’s Treasurer. Outside of work, I love snowboarding, hiking, camping and climbing and would love to chat about any of them at an upcoming event.

About

I am an Australian/Canadian lawyer that moved to the valley four years ago. Outside of work, I enjoy mountain biking, kiteboarding, creating music and getting competitive at Catan. I am passionate about human rights and want to help ensure that young adults receive a “fair go” in the community. I look forward to connecting with more people.

About

After growing up in Montreal and studying Leisure & Recreation in University, I found myself on a plane to the West Coast Mountains less than 1 week after graduation. I then made the move to Canmore in November 2020 and have absolutely loved learning about this community. I love spending all my free time outdoors, just trying to decide on which activity to do next! I also always enjoy a post outdoor-adventure beer at one of our awesome local breweries.

About

I’ve lived most of my whole life in the valley, with a stint in Calgary for college and to start my career then I got the opportunity to work from home and jetted back. Cities may be more livable but can be Busy and hard to find your place so upon coming back and jumping into some of Canmore’s only Young adult groups Game nights and finally connecting I was invested in sticking around.

After making the move to Canmore 9 summers ago from Ontario, I have not looked back! I have worked various roles throughout the years finding myself in weddings working as a Sales and Wedding Coordinator. While I'm not working you can find me camping, golfing or on a ski hill! I am looking forward to utilizing my knowledge of the Bow Valley and events towards CYAN!

About

Hi, I’m Maren, an up and coming Web Designer from Germany and outdoor enthusiast. My boyfriend and I moved here in July 2020 and my beginnings in this town were definitely lonely. After many months of lockdowns and working remotely, getting involved with CYAN allowed me to form friendships and helped me find a greater sense of purpose in this community. Find me exploring all of Canmore’s delicious food options, watch Netflix's newest reality TV garbage or catch me hiking, biking, skiing, running and climbing outside.
