CYAN is currently hiring members for its Board of Directors! 

Canmore Young Adult Network (CYAN) is a local not-for-profit, by young adults, for young adults (ages 18-35). Our mission is to connect young adults with one another and with local resources, and to amplify their voices within the community.

We run events like by-donation meals, workshops, and board games nights, all to ensure your physical, social, and mental well-being! We share information relevant to you through social media like Facebook and Instagram, and our website and newsletter. We also help you get represented and heard in community decision making by educating you on the matters that affect you, and running events that connect you with community decision makers, like our Move Mountains Festival.

Here are the current positions we are seeking to fill:

Vice Chair

Time Commitment

  • 10-15 hours a month 

Term of Office

  • 6 months with possibility of extension, starting April 2022

Duties and Responsibilities

The vice chair is, first and foremost, responsible for the effective functioning of the Board in its role of governing CYAN

  • Support the Chair in the decision making and managing the functioning of the CYAN Board,
  • Assist the Chair in supervising and evaluating staff,
  • Ensuring Truth and Reconciliation efforts, non-discrimination, and environmentalism considerations are taken into board decision making,
  • Support board members and board role evaluations,
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding of new board members.

Qualifications

  • Ability and experience to lead and work within a team environment,
  • Passion for equity and ability to bring a social and intergenerational equity lens to decision making,
  • An ability to commit the time required to fulfill the responsibilities described.


Program Director

Time Commitment

  • 10-15 hours a month 

Term of Office

  • Initial 6 month with possibility of extension, starting April 2022

Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Director will oversee the organization’s events by 

  • Overseeing the event decision making and planning process,
  • Delegating tasks as necessary to paid staff and volunteers,
  • Supervising the Program Coordinator (paid staff) in their event planning duties,
  • Develop program objectives and goals in line with CYAN’s mission and vision,
  • Overseeing paid staff in managing event volunteers and community partners.

Qualifications:

  • Project management and event planning experience,
  • Detail-oriented, exceptional organizational skills ,
  • Motivation for planning events that bring community and young adults together,
  • An ability to commit the time required to fulfill the responsibilities described.


VP Sponsorship 

Time Commitment

  • 10-15 hours a month

Term of Office

  • 6 months with possibility of extension, starting January April 2022

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Sponsorship VP serves as a frontline fundraiser and is responsible for developing individual, corporate, and community support for CYAN,
  • Lead the creation of individual and corporate sponsorship packages,
  • Identify potential sponsors/supporters in the Canmore and broader Bow Valley community,
  • Foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the Canmore and broader Bow Valley Community.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral,
  • Strong team player/team management skills, 
  • An ability to commit the time required to fulfill the responsibilities described,
  • Background in sponsorship development, sales, or business development is considered an asset.


Member at Large

Time Commitment

  • 8-12 hours a month 

Term of Office

  • Initial 6 month with possibility of extension, starting April 2022

Duties and Responsibilities

Members at Large assist the Program Director by running the organization’s events. They will: 

  • Delegate tasks as necessary to paid staff and volunteers,
  • Develop program objectives and goals in line with CYAN’s mission and vision,
  • Manage event volunteers and community partners (or the delegation of volunteer management).

Qualifications

  • Project management and event planning experience would be an asset,
  • Detail oriented,
  • Motivation for planning events that bring community and young adults together,
  • An ability to commit the time required to fulfill the responsibilities described.
