Yoga as a form of mindfulness and exercise is proven to increase mental and physical well-being. The mental health of the community, and especially of young adults facing financial barriers, was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and finding time to stay healthy is more important than ever.
In Canmore, we saw a particular need for affordable yoga (a healthy outdoor activity), as the average cost of one class is $20, which is not affordable for many young adults on a weekly basis.
CYAN runs one-hour yoga sessions in the park during June - September in the Riverside Park in Canmore, and one-hour indoor yoga sessions from October - May in the Canmore Recreation Centre. Both venues are close to downtown and accessible to young people.
Please bring comfortable clothes, if you don’t have a mat there are extras available!
Yoga in the Park: 6:30-7:30pm at Riverside Park every Wednesday
Winter Yoga: 7:00 - 8:00 at the Town of Canmore Recreation Center every Wednesday
